Drive up to Coloma and visit the original Gold Discovery Site. Pan for gold at the Gold Camp on the American River and learn the art of tinsmithing by punching a tin square or make a "poke pouch" for your gold. In the Pioneer Life Skills Program, students undertake the daily chores of Frontier Family Living, such as cooking, candle making, butter churning and 1850's games. Other programs include a Mountain Man presentation, stories from Native American oral history, and music created by a Gold Rush Musician using a variety of stringed instruments to perform authentic music of the gold miners. End your day with a visit to the James Marshall Monument and the Marshall Gold Museum.
